Abstract:

Massive rotator cuff tears can cause joint pain, stiffness and limited range of motion. The main treatment of rotator cuff is surgery, but the postoperative re-tear rate is very high, which is related to tear size, blood supply, fatty infiltration, age, and muscle atrophy, etc. Tension is another important factor of the surgery failure, so the rotator cuff patch is considered as an excellent treatment option for tension-free or micro-tension repair. In order to reduce the rate of re-tear and improve the effect of surgery, various types of rotator cuff patches have emerged, providing more options for massive rotator cuff injury. In order to provide more treatment guidance for clinical work, this paper reviewed the treatment mechanism, material classification, application and animal research progress of rotator cuff patch in the treatment of large rotator cuff tear.
