Abstract:

Irreparable rotator cuff tears(IRCTs)could result in cuff tear arthropathy (CTA). Currently, there is no gold standard treatment for IRCTs. The subacromial balloon spacer (InSpace Balloon - ISB) can serve as an effectiveoption to treat IRCTs by reporting beneficial effects on shoulder kinematics and short-term clinical outcomes. However, the biomechanical mechanisms involved in ISB treating IRCTs are still not clear. In addition, the rapid degradation and thereby continuous loss of acromion interval may affects the long-term clinical outcomes. This article aimed to review the latest biomechanical researches of ISB, which might provides the cutting-edge informations of ISB for treating IRCTs.
