Abstract:

Osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH) is caused by interruption or damage of the blood supply of the femoral head due to various reasons, resulting in the ischemia of the femoral head and the necrosis of the active cells and bone marrow. The subsequent repair process weakens the mechanical properties of subchondral bone, resulting in changes in the structure of the femoral head, which in turn leads to the collapse of the femoral head and the dysfunction of the hip joint. Although total hip arthroplasty has become a routine treatment in the late stage of the disease, for pre-collapse and young patients, taking into account the demand for movement, the life span of the prosthesis and the difficulties of revision surgery, the ideal hip preservation treatment before irreversible collapse of the femoral head is of great significance to delay the progression of the disease and thus delay or even avoid total hip arthroplasty. This article reviewed the hip-preserving treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head and focused on hip-preserving surgery.
