Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application value of blended teaching based on "you-me-us" (UMU) interactive platform in nursing training of total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Methods

Operating room nurses who participated in the TKA nursing training program in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University were enrolled. According to different training times, 30 cases given traditional training mode were enrolled as a control group from November to December 2020, while the other 30 cases given blended teaching based on UMU interactive learning platform were enrolled as an observation group from May to June 2021. In the first week after training, theoretical and operational assessments were conducted. The chi-square test was used to compare the six-month surgical follow-up individual cooperation rate, and the t test was used to compare the theoretical and operational assessments between the two groups and the average spending time of TKA with the same group of doctors. Using a non-parametric test to compare the satisfaction with operation cooperation ability in both groups.

Results

The scores of theoretical and operational assessments in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (t=3.870, 5.142, both P<0.05). Within six months after training, the individual cooperation rate of single-apparatus nurses in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (84.9% vs 46.9%) (χ2=16.516, P<0.05). The satisfaction with operation cooperation ability in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group (Z=5.138, P<0.05), and the average operation time was significantly shorter than that in the control group [(152±10)min vs (160±11)min] (t=3.542, P<0.05).

Conclusion

The application of blended teaching based on the UMU interactive platform in TKA nursing training is better.
