With the development of sports medicine and joint surgery, more and more attention has been paid to the research of posterior cruciate ligament. This article reviewed the advances in anatomical studies of the posterior cruciate ligament, combed the biomechanical functions of the posterior cruciate ligament, and elucidates the pathophysiological changes of the knee without posterior cruciate ligament. The aim of this article was to improve clinicians′ understanding of posterior cruciate ligament and give a better guide for diagnosis and treatment of posterior cruciate ligament injury.
