Platelets, one of the most common element of blood, is the first component which detect damage of endothelial cell and invasion of pathogen. In addition, platelets can internalize pathogens, secrete antimicrobial peptides, participate in and orchestrate the immune response. In this article, the research progress of anti-infective mechanism of platelets is reviewed.
