Abstract:

The patellofemoral pain syndrome is one of the most common diagnosis of knee pain, and is usually in adolescent and adult patients with a large amount of activity. Patellofemoral pain is caused by a combination of various anatomical, biomechanical, psychological, socialand behavioral factors, such as abnormal patellar position, malalignment of the lower extremity, changes in hip kinematics, quadriceps imbalance, medial patellofemoral ligament injury and tighter and thicker iliotibial band, etc. At present, conservative treatment is the main method. Conservative treatment methods include exercise therapy, patellar taping, knee brace, and foot orthoses. After conservative treatment failure, surgery can be considered.
