Abstract:

Objective

To explore the predictive effect of nadroparin calcium combined with Xingqi Quyu decoction on lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in patients with artificial femoral head replacement.

Methods

A total of 106 patients with femoral neck fractures who underwent artificial femoral head replacement at Shunde Hospital, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to June 2024 were selected and they were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method. The control group was given nadroparin calcium to prevent DVT, while the observation group received additional Xingqi Quyu decoction on top of the control group’s treatment to prevent DVT. An independent sample t test was used to compare the differences in TCM syndrome scores, swelling degree of the affected limb, prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), thrombin time (TT), fibrinogen (FIB), platelet count and bone density between the two groups before treatment and on the seventh day after treatment. Chi square test or Fisher’s exact probability test was used to compare the adverse reaction rates between the two groups.

Results

Seven days after surgery, the observation group had significantly lower scores of symptoms such as limb swelling, pain, ecchymosis and pale complexion than the control group (t=3.421, 3.070, 2.934, 3.646, all P<0.0125). The degree of lower limb swelling and the overall incidence of DVT seven days after surgery were both lower in the observation group than those in the control group (t=3.728, χ2=3.975, both P<0.05). PT, APTT, TT and FIB in the observation group at seven days after surgery were significantly lower compared to the control group (t=61.583, 5.245, 21.321, 30.104, all P<0.0125). After treatment, the observation group showed a significantly higherplatelet count than the control group (t=2.930, P<0.05).

Conclusion

The combination of nadroparin calcium and Xingqi Quyu decoction can effectively alleviate the affected limb swelling and pain after surgery, and prevent the DVT after artificial femoral head replacement.
