To explore the effect of spouse supported case management nursing in patients with unilateral total hip replacement.

Ninety-five patients who received unilateral total hip arthroplasty in Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2020 to February 2021 were selected for the retrospective study. According to the method of intervention, the patients were divided into observation group (48 cases) and control group (47 cases) based on the order of admission and random table. The observation group was treated with a case management nursing model with spouse support, and the control group was treated with a conventional nursing intervention. The postoperative recovery, scores of hip function, and scores of self-care ability of the patients in the two groups were collected and studied. Chi square test was used for counting data analysis, independent sample t test and repeated measurement ANOVA were used for measuring data analysis.

The postoperative hospital stay, first time out of bed, time for partial weight-bearing and time for complete weight-bearing in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group (t=2.861, 8.388, 6.490, 4.302, all P<0.05). Scores of hip function in one, three and six months after surgery were significantly higher than the control group (t=2.401, 3.455, 4.462, all P<0.05). There were statistical significances in between-group, within-group and interaction effects in repeated measures ANOVA (between groups: F=33.949, time: F=1 026.609, interaction: F=4.071; all P<0.05). The scores of self-care ability in one, three and six months after operation were significantly higher than the control group (t=2.735, 2.856, 3.280, all P<0.05), and the between-group, within-group and interaction effects in repeated measures ANOVA were all showed statistical significance (between groups: F=806.015, time: F=60.016, interaction: F=5.379; all P<0.05).

The case management nursing model based on spouse support can effectively benefit the recovery of joint function in patients with unilateral total hip replacement, enhance the self-care ability and promote postoperative recovery.
