Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the mid-term outcome of Single-radius posterior stable prosthesis for total knee arthroplasty.

Methods

A retro-spective study was conducted on 20 cases (20 knees) of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with single-radius posterior stable prosthesis from June 2012 to January 2015 in the orthopaedics department of Shanghai Oriental Hospital. Inclusion criteria were: first unilateral TKA, which met the diagnostic criteria for knee osteoarthritis; exclusion criteria were bilateral TKA or combined with other operations, drug addiction, severe liver and kidney dyas function rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis and other inflammatory diseases, knee joint infections or suspicious infections. The observation group included 15 females and five males, with an average age of (68.3±0.5) years. In the control group, 20 patients underwent multi-radius posterior stable total knee arthroplasty. The KSS score and knee function score were recorded before and after the last follow-up. The age, body mass index (BMI), operation time, KSS score and function score of the observation group and the control group were compared by t test. The KSS score, KSS function score before and after the operation of the observation group and the KSS score and KSS function score before and after the operation of the control group were compared by t test, and the sex ratio was compared by t test; sexual difference was analysed by chi-square test.

Results

The average follow-up period was (4.1±0.6) years. No infection, loosening or venous thrombosis was found. Postoperative follow-up X-ray showed good prosthesis position and force line. KSS score (t=1.428, P<0.05) and knee function score(t=2.750, P<0.01) showed significant differences between the two groups.

Conclusion

The mid-term clinical effect of single-radius posterior stable prosthesis is satisfactory.
