Abstract:

Objective

To explore the mind map and meticulous nursing of elderly patients with ankle fractures.

Methods

A total of 98 elderly patients undergoing ankle fracture surgery in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected as the research objects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into observation group and control group, with 49 cases in each group. The control group were given routine care, and the observation group were given mind mapping and refined care on the basis of routine care. The chi-square test was used to compare the clinical efficacy of the two groups, and t test was used to compare the preoperative and postoperative pain, time of getting out of bed, average hospital stay, and fracture healing time between the two groups.

Results

The degree of ankle swelling of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=4.804, P<0.05); the 24 h visual analogue scale (VAS) score of the observation group was lower after surgery, and the time to get out of bed was earlier. The average length of hospitalization was less than that of the control group. The differences were statistically significant (t=13.123, 13.595, 55.273, all P<0.05).

Conclusion

The application of mind mapping and refined nursing care can improve elderly patients′ understanding of the key issues of ankle fracture rehabilitation, help improving bad mood and relieve postoperative pain, facilitate getting out of bed, shorten the average hospitalization and reduce the degree of joint swelling kick in.
