Abstract:

Total knee arthroplasty (total knee arthroplasty, TKA) is the main method for the treatment of advanced knee osteoarthritis at present, including simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty and staged bilateral total knee arthroplasty. At present, for older patients with more preoperative complications, more and more doctors and patients accept staged bilateral total knee arthroplasty. However, no consensus has been reached on the selection of time for bilateral total knee arthroplasty (bilateral total knee arthroplasty, BTKA). For the patients who are not suitable for bilateral total knee arthroplasty at the same time, the impact caused by the interval time between bilateral operations can be reduced, including intraoperative and postoperative bleeding and blood transfusion, perioperative complications, postoperative functional recovery, hospitalization costs etc. Therefore, this paper reviewed the research progress of the above contents, and provided suggestions for clinical selection of appropriate interval time.
