Abstract:

Gait analysis technology has developed an examination method using biomechanical measurements for detection and analysis, to investigate walking patterns and reveal the key steps and factors influencing gait changes. Gaitogram is an important presentation of gait analysis results. In recent years, the gait analysis techniques/gaitogram has been gradually applied and popularized, especially in the diagnosis, treatment, evaluation and assistance for rehabilitation of knee joint motion and other common diseases. However, no normative document has yet outlined guidance for the use of gait analysis techniques/gaitogram in evaluating knee joint function. Based upon existing literature and evidence, the application of gaitogram in the areas of knee joint and related diseases was therefore systematically reviewed in this consensus. Seven consensus recommendations, covering indications, contraindications, perioperative management, rehabilitation, general population screening for gaitogram, analysis for special types of gait, and domain of related parameters, were made through multiple rounds of Delphi voting. The release of this consensus serves to provide practical and normative guidance to the use of gaitogram in evaluation of knee joint motion, knee joint diseases and sports rehabilitation.
