Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the effect of process quality control nursing in the prevention of hospital pressure ulcer in the aged patients with hip fractures and reduce its incidence.

Methods

One hundred and eight aged patients with hip fracture from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were enrolled into this study during September 2018 to July 2020. The patients were divided into the control cohort (n=54) and the observation cohort (n=54) by the randomized digital method. Subsequently, the control cohort were administrated with regular nursing while the observation cohort were administrated with process quality control nursing for preventing pressure ulcer. The effect of health education provided by nurses, the satisfaction scores for nursing and the incidence of pressure ulcer were investigated. The assessment indexes of process quality control was further studied, including the accuracy of risk assessment, the efficiency of nursing prevention, qualification of nursing records and risk management. Measurements were analyzed by two-tailed Students t-test or chi-square test.

Results

The scores of healthy education learning from nursing in control cohort was (79±13), while the scores in observation cohort was much higher (89±10) (t=-4.585, P<0.001). The patients in observation cohort were more satisfied with nursing(89±10) % than the patients in control cohort (80±15)%(t=-3.449, P<0.01). No pressure ulcer was found in the observation cohort while six cases were found in the control cohort (χ2=4.412, P <0.05).

Conclusion

Strengthening process quality control nursing can reduce the risk factors for pressure ulcer in aged patients with hip fractures, which helps for the enhanced recovery of these patients.
