Experience in treatment of intertrochanteric fractures in 30 cases age over 80 years

Abstract:

Objective

To observe the clinical effect of 30 cases of closed reduction proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures of patients over 80 years old, and to summarize the clinical experience.

Methods

A retrospective study from October 2017 to February 2019 the data of 30 cases with intertrochanteric fracture treated with PFNA in the First Affiliated Hospital of Dali University were followed up for postoperative follow-up and evaluated by Harris scoring criteria.

Results

All 30 cases obtained follow-up period was (10±2) months. Fracture healed in 30 patients, according to Harris scoring criteria, 19 cases were excellent, seven were good, four were fair, no case was poor. The excellent and good rate was 86.67%.

Conclusion

PFNA internal fixation treatment the curative effect of intertrochanteric fracture over 80 years old is definite, and it is the basic guarantee for early functional exercise and early getting out of bed in elderly patients.
